In one of my previous posts, I was comparing my way of taking street photos, to fishing. Today, I will compare my hobby to hunting.
Generally speaking: I often feel that when I am making shoots on the streets, I feel like I am on hunting. Moreover, some visualizations come to my mind during that time. I would divide these visualizations into three separate plots.
1) While making street photography, I often feel like a hunter stalking his prey. I believe that I do not have to remind you that my pictures are my trophies.
2) During taking photos on the streets of Warsaw, I imagine myself as a XIX century aristocratic bourgeoise who is hunting for a partridge.
3) Also, I visualize myself as a specific painter. Which one? Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. A famous French artist made his nightly rounds of the clubs in search of motifs for his paintings.
So this is how my imaginations work while making photographs on the streets of Warsaw.
I have already written about it many times, but I will write about it once again. While walking on the streets, I possess thousands of ideas, thoughts, analyses regarding broadly defined art, culture, philosophy, and so on.
Comparing taking photos to fishing or hunting is just another brick in the wall. During writing all these things, I had some thoughts that fishing and hunting are quite different. During the first activity, first of all, you need patience. On the other hand, you need dynamism and power, mainly in your legs, to chase your victim. In my case, victims are not people, but the views. Of course, in the latter case, patience is also a must. Nevertheless, if you are not patient, better not start to go out and fishing.
What about you, my Dear Friend? Does street photography (or maybe your other passion?) is also evoking similar feelings to mine? I am merely curious about it.
