The title of this text is my quotation from the post entitled “Doing street photography straight after office work,” which I wrote on the 7th of March, 2025.
The current text, entitled “I think I do not need much to be content,” was written on the 13th of July, 2025. Speaking shortly, not for the first time in my life, I returned to my thoughts from the past. What do I need to be content? I believe it is the presence of my beloved Kamilka, the ability to walk, ruck with a heavy rucksack (today, I took almost 13k steps with an additional weight of 37.5 [83 lbs] on my back and shoulders), write, and do street photography, doing intermittent fasting, and exposing my body to cold by taking cold showers or walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures. As you can see, my Dear Friend, I do not need alcohol, drugs, fancy cars, luxuries, or exotic trips to be happy.
As I grow older, I increasingly realize that happiness originates from within, not from external things. All the aspects I mentioned, which contribute to my contentment, are not necessarily connected to the broadly defined materiality. I do not believe money, fortune, and fame can bring true happiness. It is not the case that I do not want to be rich. Of course, if I could choose, I would prefer to have as much money as possible. Still, I cannot imagine that earning money would be the main aim of my life.
Of course, I need money to pay bills and to have something extra for my passion.
This passion is mainly everything you see on this blog, my Dear Friend. I publish here photos I took from my photo walks (during which, since the 18th of August, 2024, I’ve also been carrying the heavy burden on my back and shoulders) and texts I wrote like this one. Indeed, I do not need more to be content with my life.
