Frequently, when I see people staring at me with disbelief when they see me walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures, I say to myself: “Ignore them.”
I wrote this text on the 24th of March, 2024. It was a day when I was doing street photography. I was walking in summer clothes while it was seven degrees Celsius (44.6 degrees Fahrenheit). As usual, I saw many faces staring at me. Perhaps these people were wondering what it was all about. Luckily, I do not know others’ thoughts. Thus, I advise myself to “ignore them” – ignore other people’s opinions about what I do or not. Other humans’ thoughts cannot harm me anyhow. If I wanted to ask for advice from others, I would do it. Even when I hear laughing that I am crazy while walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures, I know I won’t bug them. I will just walk away and do what I want to do according to my plan. Does it all mean someone laughed at me today?
I do not know it; I did not hear it. Still, sometimes, when I see couples, some of them smile at each other after seeing me.
I do not care what they thought. Perhaps they thought that I was crazy or contrary, they knew exposing one’s body was not something wrong (after all, in Poland, winter swimming is quite popular). In today’s text, I want to stress that we should all ignore other people’s opinions (especially those received from strangers). I believe in most cases, we should follow our own intuition. Undoubtedly, we should believe in ourselves and do what we feel would be the best not only for us but also for society and future generations. Even if others think the opposite, do what your guts tell you, my Dear Friend. Ignore others and let your creative spirit carry you towards the independent world of art.
