Many times when I wake at 6 a.m. to go to the office job, I hear in my mind The Beatles’ song “I’m Only Sleeping.”Â
Which words do I hear exactly?Â
When I wake up early in the morning,Â
I lift my head, I’m still yawning.
The truth is that when I lift my head early in the morning, I feel that I want to sleep. As far as I heard, most people who get up early in the morning to go to work have a similar problem. How long do I hear John Lennon’s singing? Until I feel the cold water. I’ve already written a post in which I mentioned that I cannot imagine returning to bed after a cold shower in the morning. Still, when I am in bed and lift my head, I tell myself that I do not want to get up and take a freezing shower.
I must admit it loudly and proudly: cold hurts.
Why proudly? Because I am proud that I have taken icy showers for more than one and a half years (I wrote this text on the 23rd of November, 2022, and I started taking cold showers in April 2021). I wrote this text in the evening. It was 9:22 p.m., and I planned to take a freezing walk at -1 degrees Celsius (30.2 degrees Fahrenheit). Am I stupid for doing it?
No, exposing my body brings many benefits to my body, mind, and soul.
One of them is the fact that the quality of my sleep much improved. It is not the case that it was terrible. Still, since I started exposing my body to coldness, I have started to sleep much better. I would say I sleep much more efficiently. OK, I will finish this writing and take a walk. Tomorrow, I will lift my head again and hear Lennon’s voice, “I’m Only Sleeping.”
