Immortal Robots

January 6, 2021 by Adam Mazek

Sometimes I wonder if there be, shortly, immortal robots, who can conquer humans, and live forever.

Firstly, I believe that everything that people will create will be imperfect. A similar thing is with Artificial Intelligence. I think that titled possible-immortal robots, which can appear someday, here, on this planet, will also be defective. On the other hand, I can imagine that even despite being defective, machines could live forever. It would be a matter, for example, of reprogramming such a robot, if his physical material existence would come close to the end. By reprogramming it, it would appear in a new, metal, material body. Even if such cyborgs would live forever, do they can be considered perfect machines? Is such an existence worthy of immortal living? I cannot imagine precious life without creating art or without feelings. Moreover, I merely cannot believe that the robot would be the creator of anything. Probably, humans, by creating AI, will not create geniuses.

If the spark of a genius would be absent, do robots’ existence could be worth living?

It is hard to answer such a question. For us, people, life would be nothing without joy, desire, love, imagination, and our spirit. I cannot imagine my life without the possibility to photograph, write, and preparing a new edition of “Diaries.” Without it, my soul would die somehow, in some parts of it.

Stanislaw Lem or Stanley Kubrick were geniuses who devoted part of their works of art to Artificial Intelligence.

In their works, we can spot many questions and doubts regarding the living of the AI. They also were convinced that a spark of genius and the ability to create is a crucial difference between humans and robots. I would not like to become an immortal robot. The fact is that I want to remain imperfect, mortal human, with the ability to create.
