I wondered whether I should write more about street photography. That’s why I decided to write the “In street photography, I trust” text.
Do I genuinely believe in street photography? Yes, of course I do. The truth is that I believe in every creative process. Whether these are taking photos on the streets, writing, dancing, singing, painting, and many more, I believe in all these doings. Humans have unbelievable powers. We can do influential art from every seemingly mundane issue, including eating, preparing food, and creating fragrances or clothes. My way of creating something out of nothing is, among others, taking photos on the streets of the capital of Poland. Without broadly defined creation, including childbirths, there would be no humans. Still, if we only multiply, we would be like animals’ herds.
I believe we should at least try to use our brains, minds, senses, and imagination to give surrounding us reality something meaningful and powerful.
I am like an impressionist painter who went outside to present the surrounding world via their inner eye. We could name this eye “imagination.” Impressionists left artists’ studios to paint and show the world’s beauty. I also do it. Of course, my photographs are totally different than Claude Monet’s paintings. Still, this fact does not prevent me from walking and taking pictures of most things I see. I feed my mind and imagination by reading books about other artists.
The more I do it, the more I want to walk and take pictures on the streets. I want to leave something profound to posterity. I want to leave them a message and encourage humans to act like humans, to create, whatever their way of doing it will be. The truth is that I do not see a better way to do it for myself besides photographing, writing, and blogging. That’s why, in street photography, I trust.
