For me, wandering is an indispensable part of street photography. Moreover, strolling is one of the most underrated activities humans can perform. That’s why in walking, I trust.
I wrote many posts about walking. How happy I am when I can move my feet simultaneously freely and firmly on the ground and enjoy the present moment here and now. I suppose that one of the worst nightmares that could happen to me is not having the possibility to walk. I am genuinely sorry for those who cannot walk or have difficulties with this activity. Whenever I write about walking, I think about those who cannot walk.
Still, today, I will focus on the pure joy of the fact I walk. I remember my beloved Parents (I love you!) taking me for walks since early childhood in Malkinia Gorna – a town located in the northern-eastern part of Mazovia. Undoubtedly, they got me into the positive habit of walking. For today (I wrote this text on the 5th of February, 2023), I cannot imagine my existence without strolling through Warsaw’s streets and doing photography.
It is not only the case that I trust only in street photography. Without a shadow of a doubt, in walking, I trust.
Does that all mean we cannot do street photography statically? Yes, of course, we can. For example, we can take a tripod at night and take some night street photos. By doing it, we will walk relatively less frequently than during my way of doing street photography. Still, each form of realizing oneself is good. Both photography and street photography are not the final answers and last words to existential matters. Undoubtedly, there aren’t such things in this world. Nor does religion, science, alchemy, astrology, art, or broadly defined culture won’t provide us existential answers. That’s why I believe the best thing I can do for myself and others is to walk and contemplate life. After all, in walking, I trust.
