While watching the music videos of Genesis’ “Invisible Touch,” Michael Jackson’s “Dirty Diana” and Madonna’s “Papa Don’t Preach,” I thought that all artists: musicians, painters, sculptors, writers, photographers, dancers, etc. from generation to generation pass on an invisible torch.
This torch, divine light, symbolizes humanity. The truth is that art, poetry, music, literature, paintings, melody, rhythm, or dance make us not ordinary animals focused only on survival. We want to live, create, share the happiness, thoughts, the light of our mind, and talent with others. Personally, by taking photos, writing texts, preparing new editions of “Diaries,” I feel like I am holding this invisible torch in my hand. In this way, I imagine that this torch provides a source of light. Thanks to this light, I can go along the dark, vast void that surrounds all of us.
I somehow feel that I can help others by giving them the light from the invisible torch. I hope to help others to find their way in the dark surroundings.
Moreover, I believe that the light coming straight from the symbolical flame is a divine light that will never die. I do not know where this light will lead us, that is humanity. I doubt whether there is an end of the roaming within the dark maze named earthly life.
Nevertheless, this divine light can be one of the signs that we can try to follow, and which differentiate us from animals.
This post is also a reference to one of my previous posts named “Eternal Dialogue,” in which I stated that all artists, throughout ages, are discussing with each other. The Invisible Torch can be a symbol of this dialogue between generations. We learn from our ancestors, and I do hope that posterity will learn something from us, including me. To summarize, I want to stress that for me, the broadly defined creating process is an invisible torch that provides a light of inspiration, hope, warmth, and faith in a better future. Will this better future will be placed on Earth? I do not think so. I merely hope that it will appear in the life after death, perhaps.
