We have the right to make irrational decisions because we are human, and that’s perfectly normal. It’s part of our unique human experience.
As long as we are humans, we will make irrational decisions. It’s not just me saying this, but Fyodor Dostoyevsky, too. We all make mistakes, even me. I’ve made some bad, ostensibly stupid decisions in my life. But that’s our human nature. Without these irrational decisions, we would be nothing more than Artificial Intelligence. While writing all these things, I recall that no one is perfect. It’s a cliche, but it’s true. For me, perfection is boring. When I see perfect photographs (e.g., postcard pictures), the only thing I think about when I see them is that they are “boring.”
Nothing more.
I cannot imagine a perfect life when we constantly make the best possible decisions. Without making bad choices and mistakes, we would not learn anything. It would look like we already know the best solutions for all our problems. That’s why we should not be angry with ourselves when we realize we made a wrong, irrational choice. We should simply accept it and treat it as a lesson learned. That’s my attitude towards making bad decisions. In today’s post, I want to remind all of us, my Dear Friends, that we should not treat ourselves harshly once we notice we made a wrong decision.
Odd decisions were and will be with humanity until our final days.
There is no other option. After all, what is an irrational decision? When do we know it is rational or irrational? Sometimes, we are convinced we made normal, good decisions, but their irrationality appears years after the occurrence. That’s why I try not to overthink such issues. Life goes on, even after realizing we made tragic decisions. Also, we should remember that no matter what we do in our lives, all paths lead to death.
