Is it possible to truly understand another person? And if so, how do we go about it?
Personally, I’ve often found it challenging to understand others and even myself. It’s a complex journey, one that I believe is never truly complete. We will never understand a person until we consider things from his point of view. Still, even if we consider things from his point of view, will we still be able to understand that person? I do not think so. Why? It is because I believe we do not comprehend ourselves clearly. Until people make irrational decisions, as long as we are a divine mystery, humans from flesh and blood. It was Fyodor Dostoyevsky who wrote it. In one of my previous posts, I asked a rhetorical question: What do you know about Dostoyevsky?
I registered there that even though I had read almost all his books and five additional books about famous Russian writers, I could not write that I knew Dostoyevsky.
He was only a human. The truth is he did not know himself either. Does that mean we should stop seeking answers about who we are and why we live on this planet? Or, why does the conglomeration of proteins which often believes has a soul, exist? I do not think we should stop seeking answers and finding the truths about ourselves. It would be human civilization’s defeat. Even though it is impossible to comprehend each of us entirely and correctly, we should never stop searching for answers. It is the process that counts.
I try to enjoy it as much as possible, even if life sometimes simply sucks.
I do not want to give up on asking myself questions about who I am, and I believe I will never rest on laurels in this case. When I see the title of this post, I think I should have named it “Is it Possible to Understand Oneself?” What about you, my Dear Friend? Do you know yourself well?
