04Of course, the title of this text refers to one of the greatest Rock and Roll songs by the Rolling Stones, “It’s Only Rock’n’Roll (But I Like It).”
In times when practically all people living in a broadly defined developed Western world have access to cameras (mainly in smartphones), we can easily say that we are all photographers. It is cliché; still, it is true. For many people, photography is so common that it is simply dull. I do not want to be one of them. I want to be Adam Mazek, one of the most prolific street photographers, writers, and bloggers who ever stomped on this planet. The truth is that I wrote many times that I love walking and taking pictures of the mundane, which many people would say is boring, reality.
Nothing has changed since October 2015, when I started regularly doing street photography, until today (I wrote the “It’s only photography, but I like it” text on the 19th of May, 2025).
I hope to be able to walk until my final days and enjoy the photo walking for the next upcoming decades (while writing this text, I was forty years old). I do not care that photography and its genre, street photography, are so common and widespread that for many people it is boring. For me, it is not. I want to prove it to myself whenever I walk and take photos on Warsaw’s streets.
If photography bores me, I would not do it for everything I publish on the www.adammazek.com blog.
I hope such a day won’t appear, but if street photography bores me, undoubtedly, I will take a more extended break from doing it. Still, considering I love walking (rucking and walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures only increased my joy of walking), I cannot imagine not taking pictures of everything that interests me.
