The title of this post comes from Phil Collins’ wonderful song “Long Long Way To Go.”
During the last weeks, once I finished doing street photography, I frequently hum to myself the text, “I’ve seen all I wanna see today.” Indeed, I have similar thoughts that I saw what I wanted to see today, and I do not want to see anything more. In one of my previous posts, I wrote that Led Zeppelin songs have helped me continue my hectic adventure with rucking during the last weeks. Indeed, while walking with an additional 32 kg (71 lbs.) on my back and shoulders, I must support myself by singing tremendous and robust Led Zeppelin songs in my mind. For example, today (the day I wrote this text), I made almost 14k steps with such a heavy additional load.
Believe me, my Dear Friend, it was genuinely challenging.
After all, it was nearly 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit). It was the first time I was rucking with such a heavy load, in such hot weather, and with so many steps performed. Also, I took almost 160 photos. After finishing my long and hectic walk, after realizing I would take a rest within the next minutes, the titled lyrics of the beautiful Phil Collins’ song appeared in my mind, not for the first time. The “Long Long Way To Go” song from the “Jacket Required” album (I believe I will write a few more words about this tremendous album) is one of the most calming songs I have ever heard.
That’s why I felt truly relieved when I was finishing a feverish walk and “hearing” this conciliatory tune in my mind. The relief I felt at the end of this challenging walk is something I’m sure many of you can empathize with. Indeed, after each photo walk, I feel visually satisfied, even if I saw the same places in Warsaw for the umpteenth time.
