Jean-Michelle Jarre

Last time I realized to which paintings Jean-Michelle Jarre’s music fits.

I wrote the current text on the 23rd of August, 2022. A few days ago, I started to contemplate Zdzislaw Beksinski’s paintings. I was analyzing Beksinski’s works in magnificent album form. Who published the four-tom album? It is one of the best Polish publishing houses, “Bosz.” Jean-Michelle Jarre’s music accompanied me in this tremendous activity. I was listening to the album “Oxygene” (from 1976) and “Les Concerts en Chine” (from 1982). I want to encourage you, my Dear Friend, to do the same. Since I watched a magnificent video on YouTube (Search for the phrase: “Beksinski, 1978”. The movie last 5:43 minutes.), I realized how Jean-Michelle Jarres’ tunes and Zdzislaw Beksinski’s artworks match each other.

Today, when I see the Polish painter’s works, I hear the French composer’s music.

On the other hand, when I hear Jarre’s “Oxygene, pt. 4” song, I see the unimaginable world in Beksinski’s paintings. I feel that imaginative and musical visions are inseparable in contemplating the works of the geniuses mentioned above. I know that Beksinski preferred listening to classical music while painting. Still, it does not matter to me when I enjoy their work. I wonder how many similar connections we can find between artistic mediums. The examples I provided are probably the tip of the iceberg.

It is no coincidence that many people love listening to the soundtracks of their favorite movies.

Jean-Michelle Jarre’s melodies accompanied me throughout my whole life. I heard them many times, e.g., on the Polish radio stations. They were always carrying my thoughts away from the mundane reality. Today, my mind is connecting Jarre’s tunes with creepy and bizarre Beksinski’s works of art. I would like to see Beksinski’s works exhibition where there would be music from the “Oxygene” albums. Who knows, maybe I will be able to do it in the future.

PS

I would also add one of my favorites to the two above albums, “Equinoxe.” I recommend listening to all of them.
