I wrote this text on the 21st of February, 2023. It was a day when Joe Biden was in Poland for the second time within one year.
Today, I will write more on Poland’s geopolitics regarding Joe Biden’s second visit to Poland. Why does Poland want to be on the side of the United States and not Russia? The United States is not perfect. It is well known that the history of the US is highly controversial, starting with slavery and racism through the two invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan. I do not consider the USA a paradise. Indeed, I was there in 2006. The truth is that I still think of the US as a synonym for freedom and many possibilities.
On the other hand, my homeland had had a very unpleasant experience with Russia: from the partitions of Poland, the failed 1920 Bolsheviks’ march to the West (Poles stopped them near the Vistula river), through World War II (when the Soviets attacked Poland sixteen days after German Nazis) and ending on the communism between 1945-1989. Poland has never come out well in its relations with Russia.
Our political interests have practically always diverged.
Back to Joe Biden’s visit to Poland. Did I listen to his speech? No. Why I wasn’t listening to it? Firstly, I have many more exciting things to do. Secondly, the crucial part of his travel to Europe was his visit to Kyiv. I just hope Joe Biden and Volodymyr Zelenskyy will kick the fucking Putin’s ass. Cooperating with Russia won’t bring any benefits. Both Poles and Ukrainians know it. That’s why we prefer to be as close as possible to the US. Americans know it, and I have no doubts it is in their geopolitical interest to cooperate with Poland and Ukraine and help the latter fight the Russian army.
