Kate Bush vs. Maggie Reilly

December 18, 2019 by Adam Mazek

For a long time, I thought Kate Bush was the most significant British female vocalist. Nevertheless, Maggie Reilly has become her competitor, in my opinion, recently.

In the voice of both British female singers, there is the magic that you would like to listen to without end. I wrote more about Maggie Reilly’s songs in one of my previous posts. Now, I will focus on Kate Bush a little bit more. Probably the first Kate song I heard is “Wuthering Heights.” A fantastic video clip with Kate’s dance in a red dress is one of the most unique and odd videos I have ever seen. In general, Kate Bush possesses specific but very artistic video clips. Another one, “Babooshka,” is a clip where a famous English female singer is presented with a contrabass. The sensual presence of Kate in the movie is a cherry on top.

A magical, almost like a fairy tale video is named “Cloudbusting.” In it, we can see an unforgettable duo made of Kate Bush and Donald Sutherland.

The “Running up the Hill” clip is the following video where we can hear and see Bush’s artistic mastery. Will I ever determine which singer, Kate Bush or Maggie Reilly, is “better”? Probably not.

Anyway, is there any sense in this type of comparison? The title of this post was provocative. I will not say whether Maggie or Kate is the best female singer. They both possess their unique artistic approach and distinctive voices. Moreover, I am convinced that they will maintain as many fans in the future as possible.
That’s enough for today. I will listen to Maggie Reilly’s song, “Every time we touch.” Then, I will listen to “Cloudbusting.” Let these songs take me into the inner, artistic worlds of their female, magnificent creators.
