Last time I read in one of Taschen’s books that Paul Klee kept a diary from 1897 until 1918.
A Swiss-born famous German painter skillfully cultivated the image he wished the public to have of him. Klee was preparing and editing his diary with publication in mind. Two years after finishing writing his journals, in 1920, he started to give extracts from his diaries to his first biographers. Why do I write all these things? Because I also write “Diaries.” For how long? Since September 2019. It has been more than one and a half years since I write my beloved journals. Now I know that this period is short in comparison to Klee’s period of writing. German artist was writing his diaries for 21 years. My dream is to equal Klee’s result. Until today, I thought that one year of writing diaries is a proper result. Now I know how far I am from the excellent result.
Moreover, I thought that Paul Klee was only a prolific painter. Now I know that he has also been a prolific writer.
The fact is that I am also preparing my „Diaries” with publication in mind. Also, I write all things that I want the public to get to know. Do I hope that someone (e.g., Taschen publishing house) will publish my Diaries in the form of a book? I believe that it will happen, but years after my death. During my lifetime probably I will have to publish a book with my „Diaries” by myself. When would it happen? I do not know yet. After reading the mentioned above information about Paul Klee, I need additional years (maybe twenty?) to publish my „The best of the best” writings and photos. Still, I believe it is doable for me to be a prolific self-publisher within the next years. Indeed, I do hope to live one hundred years and be able to photograph and write until the last day of my life.
