Lack of nothing.

February 15, 2025 by Adam Mazek

How to feel satiety, lack of nothing, how to desire nothing and stop being seduced by all kinds of desires and temptations?

I believe that only when we will die, we will feel a lack of nothing. The truth is that I want to be a demigod who feels nothing, nor desires and temptations, who feels satiety in each life’s aspect and feels a lack of nothing because what he needs to be happy is nothingness because he is happy. Still, I am only a human. That’s why I frequently desire to buy a new book or new niche perfume. Yes, I must admit it loudly. I would buy, buy, and buy more and more and more books each day. Does it mean I do it? Yes and no.

Yes, because I buy books only during sales (e.g., on Taschen’s official website or my favorite Warsaw bookstore, Bookoff).

No, because I always ask myself thrice if I need this book before clicking “Buy.” Do I have infinite space for books in our house in Warsaw? No, I do not have endless space for copies. That’s why today (I wrote this text on the 5th of February, 2024), I gave seventeen books to people at my office work (I work in broadly defined accountancy). The picture of these books are presented as a feature image of this post. Did I take money for them? No. I just wanted to give them to others so they would enjoy these books as much as I did. I read all of these copies, and the satisfaction of reading each one was unparalleled.

I decided to share mainly those books that I’ve already finished reading. Was it hard for me to get rid of these books? Yes and no. Yes, because collecting books is tempting; they look marvelous on bookshelves. No, because I aim to lack nothing, with books I’ve already read at the forefront. I simply wanted to let them go, aiming to buy new books to receive fresh incentives from others.
