I reject mindless consumerism.

I received inspiration to write this post from myself. More precisely, in the post entitled “Food is for me, not me for food,” I wrote that I reject mindless consumerism. After reading it, I decided to develop my insights about this issue. I am afraid that the world order of the third decade of the XXI century (I wrote this text on the 15th of January, 2022) relies on consumerism. Global markets, including the biggest economically and militarily powerful country, the United States of America, must encourage people to buy more and more things, including food and other crazy stuff. Consumerism is the essence of capitalism. Money rules the world. Many people would tell you that you must have money to be someone in this world. I reject not only this statement but also entitled consumerism.

I do not want to buy anything just for the sake of buying. Moreover, I was not born to earn and spend money.

I have no doubts that we all, each of us, have a more meaningful and momentous life aim. Making a career is an ephemeral aim. Of course, I must stress that being rich and multiplying one’s wealth is not a sin. People have to earn and have money to live. I want to highlight in this post that money must serve me in developing and reaching the aims of my life. What is my existence’s purpose? Well, I am still looking for it. Perhaps, I will never find it in the same way as billions of people who already live on our beautiful planet who didn’t find it. They’ve already died.

We do not remember Paul Cezanne, Albert Einstein, Stanislaw Lem, David Bowie, and thousands of other geniuses because of what they possessed.

We praise them for what they did for others and the world. I aim to seek the sense, truth, and answers to many existential answers. I will do it, even if I know I will never find what I am looking for. Mindless consumerism only disrupts me in all my doings.
