Every time I take a camera in my hand and go out to do street photography, a mini-weekend starts for me.
By ‘mini-weekend ‘, I mean a period of time where I can escape from the daily grind and immerse myself in something I truly enjoy, like photography. It’s a time when I can forget about my worries and just focus on the present moment. Mini-weekend begins in my imagination each time when I change myself into a picture hunter who seeks great photos as his prey. It is the middle of summer 2023 (I wrote this text on the 15th of July, 2023). I do not do street photography as much as usual. Why? Hot summer days are the reason.
Still, when I think of doing street photography, I simply know that every time I walk, contemplate many issues, and do photographs on Warsaw’s streets, I move in my imagination to many worlds.
I rest actively. That’s how I have a mini-weekend every time I devote my time to wandering freely. That’s why I do not wait for the upcoming Saturday and Sunday to have a weekend. I can have it almost all the time. While writing all these things, I realized I was somewhat sad years ago, before I started regularly taking photos on Warsaw’s streets. I was waiting for the upcoming weekend to chill and drink beers. Now I see how miserable I was.
Today, when I have a true passion, I feel I have control over my life.
I wish you, my Dear Friend, to find a hobby to which you will devote most of your spare time. I wish you to have as many mini-weekends as I have during each photo walk. Undoubtedly, we all can find something interesting that will make us absorbed with childish joy. Have fun, seek otherness in mundane reality, travel, dance, sing, write, do whatever your soul whispers to your inner ear. Carpe Diem. Seize the day because tomorrow you may die. Have fun, but remember to obey the law rules. Organize mini-weekends (alcohol-free!) as frequently as possible. Remember, your hobby is not just a pastime, it’s a gateway to freedom and joy.
