Many of the world’s problems stem from the lust for money. Recently I read on “The Economist” that 1% of American society possesses 40% capital.Â
This inequality is not only been a problem for America but the whole of humanity since the dawn of time. Is there any way to remedy this? Stanislaw Lem, in one of his books, “Dialogues,” proved that it’s impossible. I agree with the famous Polish writer. There is no way to eradicate inequality connected with money. Inequalities and injustices have been and will be in this world as long as people still exist.
Nevertheless, recently I wondered what would happen if everyone, or at least the majority of people in this world, stopped wanting to possess more and more money and would focus on creating art.
Indeed, it is hard to imagine such a world. But, I try not to focus on numbers on my account. I aim to possess enough money to live normally and create art. I sometimes ask myself a question: from the perspective of the entire history of humankind, what is the difference if I will earn in “ABC” company, “n amount USD” and in the following company, let’s name it “XYZ,” “n + 1000 USD?” Is it an essential factor for our posterity? I do not think so. In the future, such a trace, the fact will not be practically noticed by anyone. Of course, it will be important that I gain a subsequent pay rise and I will be able to go on vacation, to the further destinations. But is that so important for my art to focus on money?
On the other hand, what is the significance of humanity that I will create artworks?
Answers can be found in the biographies of people who have focused merely on Art creation. But, of course, we should remember that both creating Art and earning money do not exclude one another. Remember, my Dear Friend: think big. But do not let money block your overall artistic approach. With this optimistic message, I will finish today, my Dear Friend.
