What gives me the greatest motivation to continue taking pictures? What inspires me the most?
It does not sound modest, but I must write about it. The biggest inspiration, the thing that gives me a huge motivation to take more and more photos, gives me browsing in Lightroom and editing my photos from the last 1-4 years. I’m genuinely motivated and inspired to act when I look at my own images. Watching and analyzing my pictures from the past is always an incredible experience for me. The fact is that while observing my photographs, some odd ideas can come to my mind. Is there any concrete example I could provide you, my Dear Friend?
Sure! The story about Boxoids, named “Earth Wars,” was inspired simply by my photographs.
You can find the full text of this work of art in my “Diaries” of January 2018. As you can notice, the plot is based on pictures. Thus, the mundane, photographic reality can inspire us to write something quasi-connected with Stanislaw Lem’s science-fiction novels. The process of creating a story about Boxoids could be somehow similar to the idea of directing Alan Parker’s “The Wall” movie. In this case, the first was Pink Floyd and their album “The Wall.” Then, a few years later, the film appeared.
Of course, the works of art of the geniuses mentioned above, and other artworks of many other masters, including da Vinci, Dostoyevsky, Dali, Beksinski, and Bowie, are still inspiring. Nevertheless, while watching my own pictures, I noticed that my photos give me one of the strongest motivation to continue my work.
What is fascinating is that when I walk down the same streets for the nth time, I still see new objects to photograph. I often discover the same streets in a completely different photographic style. Indeed, it is a perpetual flow of artistic power and motivation.
