Do I listen to music albums while doing street photography? The answer is simple: no.
Does music appear in my mind while walking and taking pictures? Yes, practically always. Why do I not listen to music albums while walking? It is because I prefer to focus on everything that is around me. Even if I hear only the sounds of streets, with loud cars at the forefront, I still want to listen to my surroundings, be careful, and not forget about reality. Listening to music would somewhat disturb me. Still, like I wrote before, I often hear music in my mind. I remember that when I was beginning to walk in cold temperatures, between 2021/2022, I was constantly listening to the Beatles’ album, “Abbey Road.” It is the first album I recommend listening to while walking in the cold. The Fab Four also made the second one, named the “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.”
The truth is that while I walk in the cold and when I remind one of the songs from the albums mentioned above, I feel a tremendous euphoric state in my mind, heart, and soul.
Even if I feel physical pain because of the cold, I feel tremendously happy that I am still alive. I feel grateful that I am here and now and can enjoy small things, like walking, contemplating, taking photos, and observing everything around me. That’s why I want to avoid listening to music while doing it. I want to enjoy my freedom 100%. I wrote this text on the 17th of October, 2022. It was a day when it was warm, as for October, in Poland. The temperature was 19 degrees Celsius (66,2 degrees Fahrenheit). Still, a few days earlier, there were 5 degrees Celsius (41 degrees Fahrenheit). In both cases, I heard the “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” album in my mind. I have no doubts that I will hear it in my imagination while doing street photography between 2022 and 2023.
