Pictures of the tribe living in the remote North Sentinel Island inspired me to write this post.
Inhabitants of this island may be the last humans left on the planet who remain wholly isolated from modern civilization. The tribe is hostile, aloof, and aggressive. Practically, almost all attempts to contact them ended with violence. There were some accidents when in clashes, there were dying North Sentinelese or the “invaders” (e.g., illegal fishers). I think it is quite unbelievable that such places still exist on our maps.
But why do I write about these people?
I thought to myself that maybe we – all the humans are in the same situation as the North Sentinel tribe. I thought about our planet as the North Sentinel Island. Perhaps someone continually keeps an eye on our world and our civilization. Those (let’s name them: aliens) creatures maybe know that if they try to communicate with us, they will have to face our aggression. I think that the most probably (if we ever manage to contact the aliens), we will be as aggressive to them as the North Sentinel island tribe to the rest of modern civilization. It is our human nature. We are afraid of the unknown. From the fear, there is a very close to aggression.
If we do not have enough knowledge about something, we treat it with hostility.
Moreover, I moved with my divagations a little bit further. I imagined the successful colonization of planet Mars. I thought that it could be as challenging for us as the colonization of the Indian subcontinent by the North Sentinelese tribe. The fact is that today, the island is under the governance of The Andaman and Nicobar Administration. This administrative body has stated that they have no intention to interfere with the lifestyle or habitat of the Sentinelese.
Moreover, they do not want to try any further contact with them.
I can only imagine that the aliens can observe all our efforts to conquer the universe. I see them smiling politely to themselves. It is a smile with pitty. Moreover, I see them talking to each other that it would be better for us if they leave us alone. Their discussion would be comparable to watching by us the pictures and movies about the North Sentinelese tribe on YouTube and discussing what we see on the screen.
