They are everywhere. Practically almost everything can be described and measured by numbers.
I truly admire all the people (e.g., businesspeople, scientists, economists, analysts, accountants, clerks, or teachers) for whom numbers are crucial in their work. I appreciate those who have to face the mystery of numbers during their daily routines. Nevertheless, the question I want to ask today is this: should we always have to measure everything by figures? I know that it is the most convenient and efficient way of doing estimations, measures, forecasts, etc. Numbers give us the most critical information; they are the fundament of our civilization. But please, let’s not get crazy.
Let’s kick numbers out of the art.
I do not want to measure my progress in my biggest passion – photography by figures. I do not pay too much attention to how many views has my site or how many likes my blog gets on WordPress. Speaking shortly: for me, the money will never be the measure of my progress. So how I measure progress in my passion? First and foremost, it is my personal opinion. I always ask myself whether I am satisfied with what I did. Moreover,
I ask myself if I am honest with my whole message.
Do I feel right with what I wrote and done on my webpage? I think it is one of the essential things in our lives. The satisfaction of what we do, of who we are, and where we follow. The opinion of your friends or fans is crucial but not the most important.
Let your inner voice lead you.
In conclusion, I would like to pay tribute to the queen of sciences, which is mathematics. I wish you, my Dear Guest, the highest possible numbers in your bank account and wherever you want. Nevertheless, I encourage you to think if we always have to add figures to all aspects of our lives.
