One hundred years.

I wrote many times here, on my blog, that I want to live one hundred years.

Still, sometimes I wonder if it is crucial how many years I will be living. Perhaps, it is not the number of years in our lives that counts. Probably it is the amount of energy, vitality, and life that counts in our whole existence. It was Seneca who beautifully described this issue. Roman ancient philosopher wrote that in the play in the theatre, much better and more memorable is the actor, who played his role well (even if it was only the episode) in comparison to the mediocre actor, who plays the main character. It seems that a similar situation is with our lives.

That’s why I want to leave as many written thoughts and pictures for posterity as possible.

I am continually doing my best to be creatively prolific since I started regularly doing street photography (October 2015) and launched the www.adammazek.com website in September 2017. For example, to give you a hint of how I do it, I want to communicate today (I wrote this post on the 9th of September, 2021) that I had been writing one text daily since we (my beloved Kamilka and I) returned from Riga. It happened on the 4th of July, 2021. Thus, we can easily count that I had been writing daily for 67 days in a row. Undoubtedly, it is my record regarding writing. I do not know when I will stop writing daily. That’s why I believe that it does not matter at all if I live one hundred years or eighty years.

What counts is how much time I will sacrifice to create new texts, to take new photos, prepare subsequent editions of „Diaries” or works, like „Negation of the End” or „Death.” The more I live and create, the more I see that it is the essence of life that counts during days and not the number of years I will live. Speaking shortly: if only I will be fully alive during my existence, it does not matter if I live up to one hundred years.
