Last time I was wondering when my passion for a broadly defined Universe began.
While preparing „Diaries 01.2019 p.II” and editing my post named „Starry Night,” I reminded myself that my passion for a broadly defined Universe began during my magical childhood. In the 90’s I was many times going on holidays to my beloved Grandmothers and Grandfathers. My father’s parents lived in Wolomin (nearby Warsaw), and my mother’s parents lived in Rudniki (Opolskie voivodeship). Luckily, my grandmother from Rudniki is alive, as the only person from my grandparents.
During the ’90s, I spent many days on vacation in Rudniki. I already wrote something more about this town in one of my previous posts. The post’s name was „Fruit orchard.” It was the time when we often put blankets in the backyard in the evening and night. Then, we were lying and observing Moon, planets, stars, and Perseids. Until today, I remember that each year when we saw the first Perseids (we called it a falling star), we made a wish to fulfill in the future.
Of course, we could not talk aloud about this dream because if someone would have told it, this dream won’t come true.
Today, when I recall all these memories from my childhood, I must stress that my adolescence was genuinely magical. We were not only observing the night sky at my grandmother’s backyard, but also we were playing football and all other childrens’ plays that could come up to one’s mind.
Nevertheless, observing the night sky during that time provided a huge curiosity towards everything surrounding us. During that time, I imagined aliens or spaceships and ghosts, monsters, and other both good and evil creatures that could only appear in kid’s minds. I do not doubt that childhood spent in Rudniki remarkably influenced my curiosity for the whole Universe.
