Penetrator.

January 12, 2023 by Adam Mazek

Sometimes I feel like a penetrator who walks by paths that are only known to a small number of people.

This penetrator wants to present beauty in the most mundane places that we can see. Ok, I must admit that I took two first sentences of this text from the post named “The uglier the places I photograph, the more beautiful pictures I take.” I quoted myself. After finishing writing the “The uglier the places I photograph, the more beautiful pictures I take.” post, I decided that I would write about myself as a penetrator who explores many of Warsaw’s paths. The truth is that I often walk among such small and niche tracks that I only see locals with their dogs strolling around or homeless people. Urban exploration is something I undoubtedly, desire in my life. For me, popular tourist routes are boring. I know that hundreds or even thousands of things we can photograph there. Still, I see ten thousand pictures of the same place or item in my imagination.

For me, it isn’t exciting. That’s why I became an urban penetrator who walks by paths where a minority of people wander.

Where can we meet such paths in Warsaw? I believe that almost everywhere—for example, there where the streets have no name. Still, many of them we can find along railways. It concerns e.g., Mokotow, Wlochy and Ochota districts. I sometimes walk from “Station to Station.” Which ones? From the “Okecie” railway station to the “Rakowiec” station. I like strolling also along railways in Bemowo and Ursus districts. The fascinating place for the creative penetrator is the Odolany suburbs. It is a part of the Wola district. I know that there are still many odd places to be visited by me in Warsaw. I hope to remain an urban penetrator for as long as my health will let me do street photography. Why do I do it? I do it mainly for joy and to inspire other people.
