In today’s text (I wrote it on the 3rd of June, 2024), I want to encourage you, my Dear Friend, to photograph as if no one should ever see your pictures.
The first step to creative liberation is to free yourself from the thoughts, analysis, and expectations of others about your pictures. This freedom, my Dear Friend, is your key to empowerment as an artist. The second step is to detach from the financial aspect while capturing moments. Understanding these principles will transform you into an independent artist. Disregard external comments, words, opinions, and judgments. They hold no power over you. They cannot harm and influence you anyhow (unless you will let bad words hurt you). Instead, focus on creating something that truly ignites your passion and brings you joy. It is my way of doing street photography.
Indeed, I often imagine that no one would ever see the pictures I take.
It helps me to make brave decisions. Also, it stimulates my mind. After all, what should I worry about by taking into consideration that no one would ever see my images? Release your soul by forgetting about others, fortune, luxuries, and welfare. That’s why I do intermittent fasting and street photography in frigid temperatures by walking in summer clothes. I want to feel discomfort and stress because, in the long term, I will be much healthier and more robust. Money is not as important as other people tend to think.
They are crucial but not the most critical thing in one’s life.
Create for the sake of creating. Make something out of nothing only if you feel it genuinely makes sense. Do not worry if you cannot explain what you do to others. Do not worry about their opinions. If your guts tell you to take this particular shot, do it. Trust your intuition. I believe that art is much more profound and eternal when it was created straight from the bottom of the heart because someone believed in what he did.
