Pleasant walking turned into a survival school.

Thanks to rucking, pleasant walking turned into a survival school.

I wrote this text on the 24th of October, 2024. It was a day when I was rucking after my office job. Of course, while rucking, I also did street photography. What is rucking? Rucking is walking with additional weight. For example, I added a further 12 kg (26 lbs) of barbell plates to my rucksack. I always aim to take a minimum of 10k steps. Sometimes, I manage to do 13k and sometimes below 10k steps. Usually, while rucking, I felt like a giant invisible hand was holding my rucksack and stopping me from going further. Walking with a heavy rucksack is a true challenge I try to overcome whenever I want to go out and take pictures on Warsaw’s streets.

I have been doing it since the 18th of August, 2024.

The truth is that I have some scratches on my body because of the rucksack’s straps rubbing my body. It hurts. Of course, I try to adjust my rucksack in various ways. Still, I see a possibility that I will simply have to buy a new rucksack. I wrote in the past a text that cold hurts. I wrote it knowing that when I take long walks in freezing temperatures wearing summer clothes, my pleasant walking turned into a survival school. Now, since I added rucking to all these crazy things, I think I have leveled up regarding turning my walking into an urban survival school.

Each step, each click of the camera, became a lesson in endurance, resilience, and the art of seeing beauty amid discomfort and pain.

If you seek challenges in your life, my Dear Friend, and if you are not afraid of pain and cold, try to do what I do. Today, it was pretty cold (9 degrees Celsius [48 degrees Fahrenheit]), and most of the people were staring at me with disbelief in their eyes (as usual). Put bricks or barbell plates into your rucksack, put on a t-shirt and shorts, take a minimum of 10k steps when it is 9 degrees Celsius, and photograph whatever attracts your eyes.
