I rejected instant gratification not only by neglecting my Instagram account.
The truth is that I am rejecting instant gratification by giving up eating sweets, drinking alcohol, and eating regularly. The first meal I eat is at least 7 p.m. In intermittent fasting, I trust. If you feel enslaved by food, my Dear Friend (I think many people who live in a broadly defined Western world in the third decade of the XXI century [I wrote this text on the first of July, 2023] are addicted and enslaved by food). For me, eating sweets is equal to receiving instant gratification.
In a short period, you will feel enthusiastic because you’ve just eaten sweet shit. In the longer, it will harm your body (because you will be fat), mind (because it will work slower), and soul (because you will regret you ate sweet shit). Instant gratification leads you to nothingness. I know that many people, after reading all these things, will ask themselves and me:
Why should I give up eating sweet little sweeties? After all, eating these things won’t harm me.
I am still trying to figure out what I would answer. Perhaps I would just become silent. We all are free people. We can all do whatever we want (unless we do not break the law). The same issue is with instant gratification and eating. How happy I am we all live in a free world, and if you want to eat shitty food – do it, have fun, and I wish you all the best. I know what’s good for me. Still, I do not know what can be proper for you, my Dear Friend. Seek solutions by yourself. Forget about all my writings and test everything you can on your own skin. Undoubtedly, practicing many things is one of the journeys to true freedom.
