How is my return to rucking after a vacation in the Latvian town of Liepaja going?
Undoubtedly, I will be able to answer the question tomorrow (I wrote this text on the 28th of June, 2025) because on that day, I plan to return to my highest rucking weight (37.5 kg [83 lbs]). Today, I was rucking with the weight of 32.5 kg. I’m proud of my progress and the fact that I’m able to carry such a heavy weight. As usual, during the last 25% time of my walking, I was praying for the end. Even though I wanted to move faster to finish my hectic walk earlier, I was not able to do it. I felt like a giant invisible hand was holding me back from doing it.
During my photo walk, I took almost 120 pictures.
Also, I took nearly 11k steps. For me, these results are perfect. Now, when I write a text in the evening, I feel all my muscles sore. The truth is that I have felt this pain practically since the first time I started rucking. What does it mean? It means I have microscopic damage and inflammation in my body. Then, during sleep. The same muscles will be somewhat rebuilding themselves. During this process, muscles de facto grow.
Indeed, I became more of a bodybuilder than an accountant since I started rucking.
I hope I won’t get any injuries tomorrow. After all, returning to the hectic sport (I do not recommend you, my Dear Friend, to put on 37.5 kg of additional weight) can be dangerous. I hope my rucksack will manage to hold this enormous weight for a long time. The truth is that, as of now, I do not plan to increase the weight of the barbell plates I carry in my backpack. I’ve already written a text about bodybuilding in which I stated I did not know how to build muscles, in theory. Still, in practice, I know what to do, and I know that the proper time of rest is as crucial as exercising itself.
