Are we on the road to nowhere?
Talking Heads’ song, named “Road To Nowhere,” inspired me to write this text. Indeed, the conscious mind often gives me a hint that humanity is on the road to nowhere. On the other hand, even if we do not see an aim of our existence, it does not have to mean that our lives are goalless. I somehow feel and want to believe that everything in our lives has its purposes, unexplainable to us. Is that mean that I believe in the Catholic Church or another religion? No. I do not think that humans dressed as priest know and sees more than other people.
In one of my previous posts, I wrote that there is nowhere to go and nothing to find in our lives.
I have no doubt that there won’t be ideal societies and individuals throughout the whole history of humankind. No one ever will get perpetual happiness and immortality. Luckily, human civilization is constantly looking for life improvements, starting from science, ending on art. We do it because we unconsciously feel that we must develop. After all, it is the natural order of everything. Still, I think that our development is a road to nowhere because we will be trying to improve all the time, but we cannot answer concretely why we do it. Who knows, perhaps our destiny is to colonize other planets like Mars, and Earth is only the beginning of our eternal journey.
It is a compelling theory, but we do not know if it is true. Is traveling on the road to nowhere a tedious activity? I think that most people would answer that their lives, their journeys to nowhere, are not mundane and dull. I believe that it is the process that counts not only in my artistic activity but in my whole life. My Dear Friend, I recommend asking yourself what’s most important in your life: your goals or processes that occur during your journey.
