Between the 22nd of February and the 2nd of March 2025, I’ve been rucking for nine days in a row.
Undoubtedly, it was my record streak. I’ve never walked with such heavy equipment (26 kg [57 lbs]) for nine days in a row. The truth is that on some days, my rucksack weighed more than 26 kg (it was because I had additional office equipment in my rucksack). Today, while writing this text (I did it on the 3rd of March, 2025), I know that I will have a break from rucking and walking also tomorrow. Undoubtedly, muscles have to take a rest sometimes. How happy I am that I discovered rucking for myself in the middle of August 2024.
While writing this text, I realized that it’s been a little over 6 months since I started doing it.
I feel and see that my muscle mass has increased. I received compliments from strangers who thought that I used steroid anabolics to look the way I did. I feel more robust, not only physically but also mentally. Rucking gave me confidence on an unprecedented scale. It’s not just about physical strength, but also about mental resilience. Rucking has not only increased my muscle mass but also my mental strength and confidence. I hope to increase the weight in my backpack until the end of my life.
Of course, I will be doing it slowly and gradually.
I am still thinking about how to increase the weight of my backpack within the following days, once the rectangular barbell plate of 25 kg arrives at my house from the UK. I cannot wait to start walking/rucking with the new kilograms on my back and shoulders. Is it easy to do it? Definitely not. Rucking is demanding and challenging. Still, I believe in stressing one’s body, whether it is by walking with heavy equipment, fasting, or exposing one’s body to cold by taking cold showers or walking in summer clothes in frigid temperatures.
