While walking and doing street photography, I want to see the world through the wonderment of a child’s eye. Everything is of interest, every moment a potential masterpiece.
I wrote this text on the 12th of May, 2024. The same as two days earlier, when I did one of the best results in the number of pictures taken on Warsaw’s streets (381 photos on the 10th of May, 2024, and 242 photographs on the 11th of May, 2024); today, I also walked and did street photography. Even though I made slightly fewer footsteps (“only” 10.5k compared to almost 12k during the last few days), I also made fewer photos (“only” 72). Does it mean I treat my today’s stroll as a defeat? Of course not. Every single walk is the next step to creating something new. What do I want to make? I do not know yet.
Perhaps I will never know the aim of my artistic activity.
But I believe in the process. My street photography is not just about capturing moments but about the journey of exploration, observation, and self-discovery. I believe I became a better human with each step taken during the photo walk, with each image taken, and with each written text. The truth is that I do not have to know the answers to all questions. We are in the art world, and understatements are as acceptable as many other keywords.
During today’s stroll, I noticed that I saw the world through the wonder of a child’s eye.
When I walk, everything interests me. I hope this childish wonderment won’t leave me until my death. I wish you, my Dear Friend, to have a similar childish enjoyment while doing what you love doing. If you do something but do not feel this joy, consider whether it is good for you. For today, I cannot imagine that the childish wonderment of mundane reality will dissolve in my soul within the following years. I feel the contrary. The more I write, walk, and do street photography, the more I desire to do it.
