Skin

Last time I started to stare at my hand.

This seemingly insignificant fact sparked in my mind one thing. I want to share it with you. I do not know if you also possess similar memories from your life, but I will share with you one of my life’s reminiscences.

Ever since I remember, I have in my memory the look of my hand from the most time of my life. I remember this part of my body practically since early childhood. I think I can remind me of how my hand’s skin looked like from time when I was 8-9 years old. Also, I remember the view of how my hand and skin were changing throughout all the years. Today, I realized that skin on my hand is becoming to be a little bit limp. It is undeniable proof that we all are getting older. Fortunately, I am not an exception. The funniest thing is that nowadays, a lot of people are becoming more and more frustrated with the fact that they are growing older and older.

I do not understand this way of thinking. For me, it is a little bit funny and pathetic.

I already wrote in one of the previous posts that I do not want to live forever. I do not want to look young all the time. The fact is that I want to get older with a smile on my face and with dignity. You can cheer yourself up than wrinkles on your skin may add a little bit more respect and seriousness. But, for me, they are only another proof that my clock is ticking, and sooner or later, I will die. Like all other people. I think that we should not worry about the fact that we will die. Still, it should remind ourselves that probably we appeared in this world to complete some unknown task, duty, or mission (I do not know how to name it). Speaking shortly: I have no idea what is the purpose of our life.

Nevertheless, I believe that we all should somehow instinctively seek this unknown aim of our life.

A lot of people are doing it by adequately raising their children. Others want to be remembered as the art creators. These two things can undoubtedly help to remain somehow in the memories of posterity. Nevertheless, the truth is that some people never ask themselves any existential questions. Thus, they spend their lives much unproductively.

I believe that the essential thing in our life is to try to find the answer to why we appeared in this world. Paradoxically, I am convinced that we will never find out the response and solutions to other existential issues. Only silence will hear out our questions.

But our whole life is one big journey.

That is why I am regularly taking photographs. That is why I created this blog and wrote all these texts. Photography (in general: art) is the tool for me, where I can try to find any tips for all my open, existential issues. It’s my way. The wrinkles on my skin, both on hands or face, are just another reminder that I do not have unlimited time, and if I want to find the solutions: I should hurry up.

And you, my Dear Friend? What do you think when you see wrinkles on your skin?
