Do you also, my Dear Friend, smell books while reading?
When I see an old book, I can smell it in my imagination. On the other hand, when I see a new book, I can also try to imagine the smell of this new print. I’ve already written a text about niche perfumes. In it, I mentioned my favorite niche fragrances. Smelling books is another issue I love doing it. The truth is that I smell practically every book I read. Is it my fetish? I suppose it is.
While writing all these things, I started to wonder how many other people have similar fetishes. Perhaps I am addicted to doing it. I think smelling books while reading is one of the reasons I do not want to read books on the Kindle. That’s why I only read a little on my smartphone and laptop. I know this fact somehow is contradictory to managing the blog. Still, it is simply true.
The truth is that I love smelling books while reading.
It usually happens at the beginning and at the end of the reading. I suppose that by doing it, I want to know how knowledge smells. For me, knowledge smells of paper and ink. Do I prefer the scent of old books or the newest ones? No, I do love the smell of all of them. Is it weird to smell books? I suppose it is. Still, I can easily imagine that it is not only me who does it. I wonder if you also do it, my Dear Friend. Are you a bookworm? Do you love reading books?
