I have been using a Sony Vaio laptop since 2011. Still, I think I will have to change my computer within the next few days.
I wrote this text on the 15th of January, 2025. A few days ago, my Sony Vaio laptop crashed. I cannot launch it anyhow. The first laptop’s handyman to whom I gave my computer said it was impossible to use this device anymore. The only thing I could do was to restore my data (including ~6k pictures) for 2k PLN (almost $500). I decided to give my laptop to another laptop magician, and I am waiting for his feedback. I have no doubt I want to restore my data. Not only are ~6k pictures valuable to me, but I also hope to retrieve my Lightroom backup file, which is also precious.
After all, without it, all my pictures would have to be edited by me once again.
If I do not recover the Lightroom backup files, do I plan to edit all my photographs from the past? No, because it is simply impossible. Will I cry that I will lose all the editing from the past? No. Earth will still be orbiting and spinning around the Sun, and such events simply cannot destroy the joy and gratitude that I live with. Maybe I will explain that all other pictures, except ~6k mentioned above, are safe. Why?
Because I was constantly making backups of all my photos from the past. Still, I do not worry about the missing ~6k pictures. If the first laptop magician told me it is possible to recover data, I think it is possible. Still, it is always worth trying to do it and pay less money. For today, I think I will be using my laptop, which was supposed to be a backup. That’s it. I do not have anything to write about the Sony Vaio for today.
