What is the titled spectacle on the wall?
The spectacle on the wall, a unique sight I witnessed on the 1st of April, 2024, was the shadow of a tree cast on one of the blocks of flats in Warsaw’s Mokotow district (Kolberga 1 street). This intriguing sight, which I remember standing and admiring, inspired me to write this text on the 30th of April, 2024. Why did I not write about it straight after returning home from doing street photography? It is because I had some more exciting topics to describe that day. Did I take pictures of it? Yes, of course. The featured image of this post represents its title. It was not the first time in my life that mundane reality made me feel enjoyable because I could simply observe and cherish it.
For me, it is street photography’s essence.
Even though I have been walking on the same streets for the umpteenth time (like in the street mentioned at the beginning of this text), reality still amazes me. It makes me feel I want to eternalize it for future generations. That’s why I take pictures of it. Also, it is one of the reasons I write. I simply want to leave something profound for future generations. A simple outlook of reality makes me feel like a child interested in each visual aspect of my surroundings.
Also, I could compare myself to an alien who had just landed on Earth and was unfamiliar with trees or blocks of flats. I wonder if reality also amazes you, my Dear Friend, on the same level as it stuns me. Do not kill a curious mind living in you. If something interests you, photograph it and write about it. Share your vision with other humans. I believe the effort is worth doing it. I would love to hear about your own experiences and see your unique perspectives, just as I have shared mine.
