Recently (I wrote this text on the 17th of September, 2021), for the first time, I heard David Bowie’s song, entitled “Station to Station.”
This tune is long. It lasts over 10 minutes, but it never gets boring. The very first minute, during which you can hear the train arriving at the railway platform, heralds something mysterious and unique. The following minutes only confirm this enigmatic feeling. I would divide the song into three parts. In addition to the already mentioned first part – intro, I would give another fragment as an incredibly energizing, suspenseful, disturbingly stimulating part that groove both legs and mind, which lasts about 5 minutes. I know that while walking and taking pictures in the future on Warsaw’s streets many times, this melody will accompany me in my mind.
I have a similar situation, for example, with the songs of the Depeche Mode band entitled “People Are People” and Pearl Jam’s “Alive.”
The cherry on top in the entitled tune is the last part of the song. It lasts about five minutes. For me, it is a very melodic and danceable piece. I’m not particularly eager to dance, but when I hear the last five minutes of the titled song, my head, arms and legs start to groove along with the melody. Does it bother me that this song is about drugs? No, because I don’t do drugs. I don’t need them. All I need is a love of my beloved Kamilka and Parents, street photography, and songs like “Station to Station” to feel the flow of inspiration in my soul and mind.
How happy I am that the YouTube platform sometimes recommends new songs. Every time it happens, I feel a new flow of insights, thoughts, inventions, and incentives in my mind. The case with the “Station to Station” tune only proves it. Speaking shortly: it is a subsequent Bowie’s incentive for me.
