Words (“Strange fascination, fascinating me”) from the famous David Bowie’s song, “Changes,” often echoes in my mind.
I still did not read David Bowie’s biography, but I know that it is a matter of time when I do that. I already possess one copy of the book. It is David Buckley’s piece of work titled “Strange fascination. Bowie. The definitive story.” I have a lot of books to read in the queue. The mentioned above biography is, undoubtedly, at the highest level of my prioritization. Nevertheless, I often wonder whether Bowie would acknowledge my artistic activity as a strange fascination. Without going further into details, if he would hear that I make street photography, writing texts, and managing a blog, he would probably say that there is no strange in this hobby.
But, I believe that if he had read some of my texts (e.g., “Big Brother,” “Earth Wars,” “Little Prince,” or “Ostensible abstraction”) and saw pictures which are illustrations to writings, he probably would change his mind.
For me, strange fascinations were always weird. I did not understand them at all. But I grow up. For today, I possess my unique enchantment. Is taking photos of dust bins on the streets is a common hobby? Or writing that human civilization could be so under-developed that everyone else in the Universe practically forgot about us? Why Aliens did it? Because they are aware that every contact with us could end with a duel. I wrote about in already mentioned “Earth Wars” post and the “North Sentinel Island” post.
I know that there are a lot more strange hobbies in the world.
Nevertheless, I do not think so if many people can mix photography, philosophy, science-fiction, and designing e-books at the highest level. Undoubtedly, another one is Eric Kim. If you still do not know, my Dear Friend, whether to launch your website, check out Eric’s site. Who knows, maybe after that, strange fascination will come up to your mind and imagination.
