Street photography is the core of my life.

September 14, 2025 by Adam Mazek

The older I become, the more I feel that street photography is the core of my life.

I wrote this text on the 16th of December, 2024, while still 39 years old. During the last four days, I have been doing street photography while rucking and exposing my body to cold. This physical challenge, along with the mental and emotional aspects, is an integral part of street photography. Undoubtedly, all these activities, with street photography at the forefront, give me the power to act. The truth is that I hope to be in the broadly defined creative process until the end of my life, no matter how long I live. I told it once and will tell it again: street photography, in its very essence, is the core of my life, its sense. I cannot imagine living without doing this artistic activity.

Is street photography an art? Undoubtedly, it is.

It was not only I who proved but, first of all, geniuses like Eugene Atget or Henri Cartier-Bresson. Throughout the last four days, I have made, on average, 13k steps, wearing a rucksack that weighed 22 kg (49 lbs) on my back. I won’t write how many photos I took, because now my camera is drying from today’s heavy rain. Still, I know that during each photo walk, I took a minimum of 100 photos. Undoubtedly, street photography is my obsession. If I had to stop doing it, part of my soul would have died.

I am addicted to street photography and all the activities related to it (walking, rucking, exposing my body to cold by wearing summer clothes, etc.).

My future aspirations in street photography are to continue pushing the boundaries of the art form, to inspire future generations, and to leave a lasting legacy in the world of photography. I hope to become one of the most prolific photographers who ever stomped on this planet and who will encourage future generations on the same level (or even higher!) as street photographers mentioned earlier. Keep your fingers crossed for me, my Dear Friend. I hope your dreams will also be fulfilled.
