It was May of 11th 2018. I went out of the office and went by subway to develop my photographs needed for the school.
When I left a pen drive with images at the photography studio, I decided to get back not by subway but by walking. I started my walk from the “Natolin” metro station and finished at the “Wilanowska” station. To give you some conception of how far it is from one station to another, I will write that I made almost 14.000 steps during this walk. Of course, I did it with the camera in my hand. As usual, I was analyzing the visual surroundings of the Ursynow and Mokotow districts and contemplating life. It was the typical, almost summer-time afternoon in Warsaw.
While taking this walk, once again in my life, I realized how many great things we miss when we hurry up during our day-to-day activities.
How many things we can experience during such a walk is also unbelievable. For example, we can talk to strangers about their local problems, or about photography. Also, we can see a drunken brawl or hear shouting coming from the windows in the flats. Or, we can listen to specific drunkards’ chats who like to drink alcohol outdoor. We can see youngsters coming to the Friday parties or older men walking with their dogs. It is the classical prose of life.
The most important thing for me is that I precisely hear my inner thoughts during such a walk. I can listen to them loud and clear. It is the time when I can quickly catch my iPhone to write down all my new and fresh ideas. Why I do this? Later on, I will come back to these concepts. I can transform and develop them into the blog post. This blog post will be my next, subsequent trace, which I want to retain for posterity. For me, classic examples of the people who did that before me were, among other things, Seneca, Fyodor Dostoyevski, or Stanislaw Lem. They all were masters of transferring their complex thoughts into words. What is most interesting, they all lived in an entirely different time and place. What does it mean for us?
It means that “the genius” (and “the stupidity”) does not know both territorial and time borders. It also means that if you want to be remembered by posterity, you do not have to count on others’ help.
You already possess everything to start your creative journey today. No matter if it is connected with photography, writing, drawing, painting, singing, dancing, or sculpting. Move your ass, and start to do what you genuinely love. Focus on this activity. Focus on your passion.
By the way, what else I want to say by writing this post? I want to add that we should support building a subway in Warsaw. We must raise it faster, and we need to plan subsequent routes. Thanks to that, I will have much more fun. The more subway routes, the more I will be able to wander through them. Moreover, it is more likely that other great ideas will come to my mind during walking along those routes. Of course, I will take more photographs to publish them here on my website.
