While doing street photography, I am practically always switching off.
Does that mean that I am switching off my smartphone? No, I sometimes need my smartphone to write down new ideas that appear in my mind while walking. By switching off while doing street photography, I mean I have many moments when I do not think about anything. These junctures are the ones when I switch off my mind. It is a moment when I simply walk without contemplating. I am right here and right now, and I even do not know it because I am somehow absent. My body and my legs walk, but my mind is switched off. I simply enjoy the present moment somewhat unconsciously.
I believe all people should sometimes switch off their minds.
By writing all these things, I do not mean they should drink alcohol regularly. Undoubtedly, alcohol and drugs are switching off one’s mind. I do not tell others to get intoxicated and high. In today’s post, I want to stress that I somehow meditate while wandering with a camera in my hand. I walk for the sake of walking. While doing it, I often contemplate many issues. Still, I can easily imagine other street photographers who want to be in a rush, in a hurry, in action. They desire to take pictures where something is going on. I am not like them.
Nevertheless, practically all the ways to express oneself are proper.
For me, contemplating and switching off my mind while walking works quite okay. The last activity of not thinking at all comes to me somewhat unconsciously. I must stop writing this text. I want to go to sleep. Undoubtedly, sleeping is one of the best natural ways to cut off from the external world. Let me dive into the world of dreams. See you tomorrow, my Dear Friend.
