It happened accidentally that on every 20th of October, between 2017 and 2020 years, I was on my photographic walks.
From now on (I wrote this post on the 22nd of October 2020), I plan to go for photographic walks every year on the 20th of October. I hope that taking a walk on the 20th of October will become my new photographic tradition. I believe that the date is not coincidental. The last days of October are the last days during Daylight Saving Time when I can go out of the office to walk to shoot street photos. The fact is that the last days of October are the last days when the daylight lasts long enough so that I can go out of my work at 4 p.m., take a breath of fresh air, and roam throughout Warsaw’s districts.
Am I sad that long days are getting shorter in the northern hemisphere?
Yes, it is quite a sad moment for me. Indeed, the end of Daylight Saving Time symbolically ends the season of walking for me. Is that mean that I do not plan to walk during autumn and winter? No. I do plan to wander through the streets of Warsaw during the whole wintertime. Still, the fact is that I do it rarely, not as often as during spring or summer. Are there any advantages of such a situation? Yes. During wintertime, I can focus more on the www.adammazek.com website, writing and preparing new editions of „Diaries.”
Moreover, it is a time when I can read more frequently.
I plan to walk after my office job during wintertime. Still, the fact is that these walkings will not be as frequent as usual walkings during daylight. Autumn and winter walkings after work I do among the darkness. It is a time when I listen to music while strolling. Still, I hope that the 20th of October will stick to my calendar as a day of walking.
