The alcohol

May 22, 2018 by Adam Mazek

Last time I opened my eyes regarding my attitude to the alcohol. During my studies, I was drinking quite a lot, like most of my contemporaries in Poland. During the last years, I was drinking approximately 2-4 beers per weekend (but not every weekend).

The story begins in the middle of December 2017, when I was doing push-ups, I strained my shoulder. The orthopaedist prescribed me medicines. While taking the cures, I could not drink even a drop of the alcohol (Thank God!). After two weeks without alcohol, I decided to continue this experiment. My lovely girlfriend, Kamila, also decided to join in my journey. Why did we choose to do it?

The answer is simple: for well-being.

Without alcoholic drinks, life becomes much more straightforward and better. The quality of sleep improves a lot. I do not feel as tired as I was before. The funniest thing is that I did not know before that my tiredness was connected with drinking 2-4 beers per week. But it is true!

Moreover, I also noticed that not drinking provides an easy possibility to maintain a healthy weight (indeed, alcoholic drinks are also full of calories.) Additionally, if we reduce the amount of alcohol you drink, our skin and eyes should look brighter, better, and healthier. Speaking shortly: people look better when they do not drink alcohol.

The best thing is that when I resigned from the alcoholic drinks, I started to be more creative, both in taking photographs and writing my blog posts.

I feel that I can focus much better while writing and reading. Without alcohol, I started to create more stuff connected with my blog. I overcome my laziness. Moreover, I can better manage my precious time while working. Now I know why Fyodor Dostoevski did not drink the alcohol and was a committed opponent of this activity. I am sure that thanks to that, he was able to produce many more texts than if he would drink. I want to do the same. I want to quit alcohol and focus on Art creating. Thank you, Fyodor!
