Millions of music fans ask themselves the same question: Which band do I prefer? The Beatles or the Rolling Stones?
The titled question has sparked countless debates and divided music fans for generations. Which side are you on, my Dear Friend? The world constantly amazes me. Undoubtedly, one year ago, I would have answered that I preferred The Beatles to the title question. After all, falling in love with the “Abbey Road” or “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” albums made me almost obsessed with the Beatles. Later on, I fell in love with the so-called “The White Album” (official name: “The Beatles”). Still, today (I wrote this text on the 14th of February, 2024), I will answer that there is no winner in the battle between the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.
The latter band is crazily rocking-rolling.
Still, why does the world manage to amaze me? The world astounds me, thanks to The Rolling Stones’ forgotten (for me!) songs like “Sway,” “She’s a Rainbow,” “Under My Thumb,” and “Street Fighting Man.” The more I listen to these songs (and many more!), the more I want to do it. How happy I am that many of the Rolling Stones songs are still to be discovered and re-discovered. Today, I was walking in the evening in cold temperatures (it was 6 degrees Celsius [42.8 degrees Fahrenheit], and I was humming the Rolling Stones’ “Sway” tune. I fell in love with this song. While singing it deep in my mind and feeling the chilling cold, I felt my soul was being reborn.
If you do not know this song, my Dear Friend, I genuinely recommend listening to it.
Which band do you prefer: the Beatles or the Rolling Stones? I doubt that such a comparison makes sense at all. In the same way, I wrote about the battle “Kate Bush vs. Maggie Reilly.” I cannot say who from all of the bands and artists mentioned above is “better” in the same way, and I cannot say who the better rock-and-roller was: Mick Jagger or John Lennon?
