Last time I thought which music video is for me the symbol and the essence of the ’80s.
On top, there are Michael Jackson’s or Madonna’s video clips. Both artists created an unbelievable sharp image of the ’80s in the USA. Michael Jackson, for example, made in those times many great video clips, including inspired-by-horror-movies “Thriller,” or reflecting ’20a in the USA, “Smooth Criminal” song. In the ’80s, a famous “Moonwalker” film was directed. I did not watch this film, but I am familiar with video clips from this film. “Smooth Criminal” was one of the video clips made for this classical cinema. The other ones are “Man in the Mirror,” “Speed Demon,” or “Leave me alone.” All these video clips are unbelievable inspiring classics of the ’80s.
On the other hand, my favorite period of Madonna’s artistic activity was also placed in the ’80. I love to feel the atmosphere of New York City in “Papa Don’t Preach” music video.
Moreover, the video clips from her first album, “Madonna,” including such songs as “Lucky Star” or ” Holiday,” is also an essence of the ’80s. Did Madonna make some other famous video clips in the ’80s? Yes, there were a lot of them. My favorite is, for example, “Material Girl,” “Like a Prayer,” “Into the groove,” or “Who’s That Girl.”
For me, the essence of the ’80s is included in a broadly defined artistic activity of both mentioned-above artists.
Nevertheless, for me, the number one of the essence of the ’80s is Whitney Houston’s video clip, “How will I know.” The clip that is full of colors, excitement, and joy presents us, Whitney, who is not wondering whether the Soviets will bomb her. Her biggest problem is if the man loved her. For me, it is the essence of the ’80s.
PS
As a bonus to this post, I would add Gloria Estefan music video named “Dr. Beat.” If you want to feel the magic, beat, and melody of the enchanting ’80s, I recommend to you, my Dear Friend, to observe all mentioned-above music video clips.
