I wrote this text on the 16th of March, 2024. It was a day when, in 2024, the first storm, a mighty and unexpected tempest, occurred in Warsaw.
The sky darkened, the wind picked up, and the first drops of rain began to fall, heralding the arrival of the storm. Before I started walking and doing street photography on Warsaw’s streets, I did not check the weather forecast. I was surprised when I heard thunders in the middle of my stroll. The sudden change in weather filled me with a mix of excitement and apprehension. Indeed, the storm in the open air is the only weather aspect I fear. Before I started my wandering, I planned to make approximately 15000 steps during my walk, but once I heard thunders, I turned back and walked straight to my home. Thus, I did “only” 11000 steps. During my return, I was showered by the heavy rain.
My camera stopped working.
After returning home, I had to split it into parts to dry each part. In the evening (while writing this text), I assembled all the parts and checked if the camera worked. Luckily, it still works. Did I mention that I am afraid of my camera during the rain? I do not worry about getting sick because I am used to cold temperatures. How cold was it during the day when the first storm in 2024 in Warsaw appeared? It was, for me, warm (14 degrees Celsius [57.2 degrees Fahrenheit]). I think that spring is slowly coming towards us.
Do I miss spring? Yes and no.
Yes, because the day will be more extended, and I will be able to do street photography right after my office work. But at the same time, I want winter to last longer and to be able to cool down my body outside more frequently. This bittersweet longing for spring and appreciation for the lingering winter is what I wanted to share with you, my Dear Friend, on that day. After all, I am only a human, not a God who throws thunders on Earth. It is simply impossible to share groundbreaking insights each time I write.
