Sometimes, I find myself pondering over what the natural way of living should truly look like. It’s a question that often leads me to reflect on my own lifestyle and choices.
When I delve into this issue, I often find myself drawn to the past, particularly prehistoric times. Why? Well, from an evolutionary standpoint, our bodies today are not significantly different from those of our ancient ancestors. This similarity also extends to our eating habits, such as fasting, which was a natural part of their lives due to the absence of modern conveniences like refrigerators. If they hunted something, they ate it. If not, they had to fast unless they had fruit, eggs, vegetables, or nuts, but it was impossible to have during all the seasons.
Moreover, they did not have snacks to eat from dusk until dawn.
That’s why fasting is part of the natural way of life. Nevertheless, I sometimes try to imagine other aspects of our primordial ancestors’ lives. Undoubtedly, our ancestors living in caves did not sit in chairs for more than 40 hours weekly. Why? Because they did not have chairs and offices to work. Still, they did not lie on the couch for the whole day. I can easily imagine that men had to go hunting and take many kilometers daily to feed other tribe members.
On the other hand, women had to leave their caves to pick berries or fruits so that their children and themselves would not starve.
I think cavemen were much more active than usual humans today in the broadly defined Western world. Did our ancestors wash themselves? I have no idea. Undoubtedly, they drank water. I imagine they have a bath in the cold water. The reasons for this could be various: they could chase prey, or someone or something could chase them. In this case, their only escape was deep diving into the harsh water. Treat this post, my Dear Friend, as simply rocking in the cloud. I do not know how to live naturally. I also do not know how our ancestors lived. The only thing I know is that I must go to sleep. Undoubtedly, sleep is one of the most natural ways to rest. But how did our ancestors living in caves sleep? Perhaps they slept near the bonfire, on furs, from dusk till dawn.
