I do not need to speak generally, so I write and manage the www.adammazek.com blog.
I find that the act of writing allows me to express myself more clearly and thoughtfully than speaking does. The older I get, the more I realize that the need to speak interferes with not only thinking but also seeing and hearing. While writing, my brain is on the move. Words written on paper usually come out easier from my mind than spoken words. While writing, I can focus clearly on the writing process. I do not have as many distractions as I am talking with someone. I believe it is a fundamental issue when discussing the need to speak. Also, I think that when other people talk, I can learn more by listening to that person.
Even if someone talks bullshit, we can always learn how not to speak to others.
Speech is silver, and silence is golden. Someone who said that in the Arab culture in the IX century was a genius. I think I tried to explain in this text why I prefer writing and blogging rather than meeting with other people. However, this is not the case; I like people. Still, I prefer to know and meet a limited number of people I know rather than meeting and talking with strangers.
Even if passers-by speak to me or comment about what I like (remember, my Dear Friend, I love walking like a weirdo wearing summer clothes in freezing temperatures), I do not want to talk with them too much because I want to do something else, that is walk, contemplate and take pictures of mundane reality I see and love. I prefer not to talk during all these activities, but I enjoy being here and now. I love life in its purest and cleanest form, with silence at the forefront. I want to speak up loudly only when necessary.
